Metal on Skin was founded in 2022, though Lauren's journey began in 2019 when she studied Jewellery Engineering. Despite never envisioning a future in jewellery design, the spark to create reignited a few years later. Lacking the tools and space to begin, she stumbled upon the lost wax technique. Through self-teaching and experimenting with various materials, Lauren quickly developed a passion for the unique shapes and textures wax could produce. This led to the birth of Metal on Skin, a brand that combines raw artistry with a love for natural forms.

The creative process is deeply influenced by nature. Though each piece begins with a specific concept, the act of creation often transforms the initial vision. Working with wax—melting, filing, and shaping—Metal On Skin embraces the “perfect mistakes” that arise, allowing the material to guide the design in unexpected ways. This fluid process results in jewellery that reflects the organic form of nature, where each piece feels as though it has a life of its own.

The brand uses recycled sterling silver and solid gold for all of its pieces, ensuring minimal waste and maximum longevity. Offcuts are melted down and reused, and the brand’s made-to-order model helps reduce unnecessary production. All gemstones are ethically sourced and packaging is either biodegradable or recyclable, reflecting the commitment to environmental responsibility at every stage of the process.
